To those who have not returned from the sea…

Description

The unique and inimitable atmosphere of the event attracts over a thousand viewers from Poland.

The distribution of free tickets will start on June 9, 2026 and will be carried out at the ticket point of the Opera at the Castle from Tuesday to Saturday from 14.00-18.00.

This year’s concert, poetically titled “Tears of Opera,” will feature moving orchestral excerpts and selected arias from Verdi’s operas such as “La Traviata”, “Macbeth”, “Nabucco,” and “Otello,” Puccini’s “Tosca” and “Turandot,” as well as Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” and Ponchielli’s “Gioconda,” which, in their mood, fit the concert’s theme of transience and loss, but also of hope and solace. The concert will feature soloists and the orchestra of the Opera at the Castle, conducted by Agnieszka Nagórka.

The concert "To those who have not returned from the sea…" is a recurring event which takes place in the extraordinary scenery of the Central Cemetery, which is not only the largest in Poland and the third largest in Europe but also one of the most beautiful parks in Szczecin.
With this concert we have for 20 years now been honouring the memory of the people who tied their lives with the sea and who the sea called for an eternal watch. The concert is customarily preceded by the sea ceremonial. The unique and inimitable atmosphere of the event attracts over a thousand viewers each year.
